Some are critical of current architectural practices, arguing that buildings do not last as long, cost too much money to build, have a lengthy design and building process, and are not aesthetically pleasing. Architectural practices have improved in the aspects of education, appearance, functionability, flexibility, and is becoming more environmentally friendly. The profession could continue to improve by discovering new materials to build with, working towards designing self sufficient housing, as well as building longer lasting structures.
